How the 3G switch-off may affect your service while you’re abroad ?

Network operators around the world are starting to switch off their 3G services. This is so they can free up capacity to expand their 4G coverage and add new 5G services.

If you travel to a country where 3G services have been switched off, your roaming experience might be impacted. This will depend on whether VoLTE is available in the country you’re visiting, and if your device is compatible.

What is VoLTE?

With VoLTE, you’ll be able to make calls and use data over 4G networks when roaming in certain countries, which should result in improved call quality.

How can I use VoLTE?

To use VoLTE (4G Calling abroad), you need to:

• Check if your phone is compatible with VoLTE
• Make sure your phone is updated with the latest software.

What if my phone isn’t compatible?

If your device is not compatible with VoLTE, you may be unable to connect to the network in certain countries where operators have switched off their 2G and 3G networks and currently provide services through 4G and 5G only.
