Mahmoud El-Khatib: Digital transformation contributed to saving 50 million EGP in the medical services sector in Egypt.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the academic, medical, and IT fields, including Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abdeen, President of Ain Shams University; Dr. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the University Hospitals; Eng. Amr Mahfouz, CEO of Delta Company; Eng. Mahmoud El-Khatib, Vice President of Vodafone Egypt for Business; and Ayman Essam, Vice President for External Affairs and Legal at Vodafone Egypt. The session began with a welcome speech by Dr. Tarek Youssef, followed by several presentations discussing various aspects of digital transformation in the healthcare sector.

During his speech, Eng. Mahmoud El-Khatib expressed his pride in Vodafone Business’s crucial role in digitizing Egypt's healthcare sector. He emphasized that digital transformation is a key element in improving the quality of medical services and accelerating processes within hospitals. El-Khatib highlighted Vodafone’s success, in collaboration with Ain Shams University, Delta Company, and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, in digitizing 13 university hospitals under Ain Shams University. This achievement enhanced the speed at which medical teams can access patient data and improved diagnostic accuracy using AI technologies. He also noted that this transformation directly impacts citizens’ lives by serving 10 million individuals annually, resulting in financial savings exceeding EGP 50 million and significantly boosting the efficiency of healthcare services.

El-Khatib also shed light on Vodafone Business’s smart solutions, including telemedicine services that allow doctors to monitor patients remotely and send emergency alerts when necessary. These services ensure high-quality healthcare aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030. He further mentioned that the Vodafone Business Digital Health Academy has trained over 25,000 healthcare workers on modern digital systems, reflecting Vodafone’s commitment to strengthening Egypt’s digital healthcare infrastructure. He concluded by affirming Vodafone’s dedication to strategic partnerships with academic institutions to enhance the healthcare ecosystem. The collaboration with Ain Shams University reflects a shared vision for a comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation that best serves Egyptian society. The session also featured fruitful discussions on the challenges facing Egypt’s healthcare sector and the opportunities that digital transformation presents, stressing the importance of collaboration, innovation, and infrastructure development to meet citizens’ needs.
