Today, Vodafone Business and Ain Shams University Hospitals organized a roundtable to discuss efforts in digitizing the healthcare sector and improving medical services in Egypt. The event was attended by prominent figures from academia, the medical field, and the IT sector. Participants included Dr. Mohamed Diaa El-Din, President of Ain Shams University; Dr. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals at Ain Shams University; Eng. Amr Mahfouz, CEO of Delta Company; Eng. Mahmoud El-Khatib, Vice President of Vodafone Egypt for Business Sector; and Ayman Essam, Vice President for External Affairs and Legal Affairs at Vodafone Egypt. The session began with a welcoming speech by Dr. Tarek Youssef, followed by several presentations addressing various aspects of digital transformation in healthcare. During his remarks, Eng. Mahmoud El-Khatib expressed his pride in Vodafone Business’s vital role in digitizing Egypt’s healthcare sector. He emphasized that digital transformation is essential for improving the quality of healthcare services and accelerating hospital processes. El-Khatib highlighted that Vodafone, in collaboration with Ain Shams University, Delta Company, and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, successfully digitized 13 university hospitals under Ain Shams University. This significant achievement has enhanced the speed at which medical teams access patient data and increased diagnostic accuracy using artificial intelligence technologies. He further noted that this digital transformation directly impacts citizens' lives, aiming to serve 10 million citizens annually. It has also generated financial savings exceeding EGP 50 million, thereby improving the efficiency of healthcare services. El-Khatib also discussed the smart solutions offered by Vodafone Business, including telemedicine services that enable doctors to monitor patients’ conditions continuously and issue immediate alerts in emergencies. These solutions ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare that aligns with Egypt's Vision 2030. He highlighted that the Vodafone Business Digital Health Academy has trained over 25,000 healthcare workers on the latest digital systems, reaffirming Vodafone’s commitment to strengthening the digital infrastructure of healthcare. He concluded by emphasizing Vodafone Business's commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with academic institutions to improve healthcare systems. He noted that the collaboration with Ain Shams University reflects a shared vision to achieve comprehensive and sustainable digital transformation for the benefit of Egyptian society. The session also included productive discussions on the challenges facing Egypt’s healthcare sector and the opportunities offered by digital transformation.
